Viewpoint|Professional athletes turned Trump’s invitations into political capital. They shouldn’t offer it back.
James and the Warriors were not alone in their sentiments and actions during the Trump period. So many Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles stated they wouldn’t go to Trump’s White Home that the petulant president, with his popular fetish for crowd sizes, withdrew his invitation to them, too. The North Carolina men’s basketball championship team refused to entertain Trump. Numerous ladies’s champs weren’t extended invites. While some college teams accepted invites, expert teams such as the Washington Nationals and Capitals were so divided by Trump’s politics or behavior– or both– that a few of their gamers (Sean Doolittle, Braden Holtby) decided to brake with teammates accepting Trump’s offer.
