Viewpoint: Patriots Tight Ends Have Prospective in 2020 – Full Press Coverage
Permit me to present myself, Patriots Nation. My name is Clare Cooper. I am from the UK and I am here to discuss New England Patriots tight ends.
If you are a frequenter of Twitter, and a listener of a certain collection of Patriots web radio shows/podcasts, you may currently understand my ‘voice.’ You need to also be aware of the truth that I am a BIG fan of the tight end position in Football. Much like many of you in Patriots Nation, the factor for my love for stated position progressed with one Rob Gronkowski.
Sadly, Gronkowski has actually moved on … therefore shall we.
Although the tight ends with which we are progressing may not be in the ‘top ten,’ they do have capacity. Two of them happen to be 2020 third-round prepared rookies. Quite frankly, we have yet to see much of what they can achieve.
I am beyond the first individual to state they have high expect Devin Asiasi. With the exception of a possible injury, much of what we are hearing out of Gillette Stadium is positive and hopeful. I likewise have my ‘not-so-sharp eye’ on Dalton Keene, in addition to incumbent, Ryan Izzo.
I state ‘not-so-sharp’ due to the fact that it is not a secret that I am still a novice when it comes to analysis.
But I digress, back to tight ends.
We do understand that Keene is a flexible player, who has the capability to line up anywhere, That is excellent for us, bad for opposing defenses! The Patriots may check out the option of putting Keene in the fullback position, which might not be a bad thing with a possible lack of depth. However, in the meantime, let us consider him as a tight end, most importantly.
Whilst he definitely looks good, Keene is a rookie, Ryan Izzo is not. You might not be a huge fan of Izzo. (Heck, I would not blame you) Over the previous 2 seasons, he has yet to offer much. To be fair, he invested most of the 2019 season hurt. Still Patriots fans, his 3rd year might simply be the year that he demonstrates his expertise as a tight end. Now that he’s formally on the roster, I seriously hope so.
Reports from training school have confirmed that Izzo is looking excellent. Once again, i remain aware that he just looks excellent in comparison to his own teammates. That, in tandem with the lack of preseason games has actually made efficient examinations rather hard. However, numerous experts such as the Voice of the Patriots, Bob Socci, our extremely own Mike D’Abate, and a number of gentlemen of Patriots Unfiltered have all commented to the positive … and those people are in the understand.
As you may deduce, it is clear that I have actually hitched my wagon to the almost-veteran. In reality, I was all-in on Izzo last year; he was my rebound from Gronkowsi at the position. In my defense, as a fan, you wish to root for someone. Izzo was my choice. This year, my faith might just settle … we will see.
I need to state one cut that surprised me personally was Paul Butler. He was the most significant tight end in camp at 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds. A veteran, he has huge arms and a bulky look that I made sure would make him a good blocker. Reasonably, I did not see the group cutting Asiasi, Keene or Izzo. All in all, Butler would have made 4 tight ends on the lineup, and only an extreme tight end lover would be expecting this. (* ahem *).
Despite Butler being rejected, I was pleased to see the rookie complimentary representative, Boston College’s Jake Burt make the practice team. Signed originally back in May, he is another casualty of 2020’s absence of exposure. I have checked out that he plays with heart and might have some flexibility. He has decent size to him and undoubtedly I’m looking forward to seeing him in action.
In the last analysis, the New England Patriots will carry three tight ends in 2020. I do not believe many Patriots fans are amazed. The impacts of COVID19 constraints, the cancelling of joint practices and the loss of the preseason have significantly compromised New England’s ability to really witness players in action. Therefore, it is not a surprise that numerous undrafted novices have actually had problem discovering their way onto the 53-man rosters of numerous NFL groups.
Patriots Country, we count down to the group’s first game versus the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Like the majority of you, I can not wait to see what these tight ends can do on the field; along with the remainder of the team. After all, I am a passionate fan, with a love for composing; filled with enthusiasm for the New England Patriots. Yet, I am still discovering so extremely much. For that reason, I offer a friendly obstacle to you ‘veterans’ to examine my love for the group, assisting me to get more information while doing so
. Simply don’t ask me to rattle off the ratings of state a fall video game we played against the Buffalo Bills, circa 2007 … Go Patriots!
