Steam Hits 23 Million Concurrent Players This Christmas
Steam has clocked in record numbers of concurrent players in 2020. On Christmas day, Steam reached 23 million concurrent players for 2020, according to industry expert Daniel Ahmed.
For the sake of comparison, Steam hit 15.8 million in 2019, 15.3 in 2018, 16.2 in 2017, 12.5 in 2016, and 10.5 in 2015. The top played video games on Steam were Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Cyberpunk 2077, and Grand Theft Vehicle 5.
Ahmed also notes that Steam has hit a record number of concurrent players several times in 2020, owing largely to numerous all over the world being stuck at home since of the COVID-19 pandemic. There have likewise been a higher number of gamers throughout off-peak times also.
