National Super League side Shabana will not upgrade their squad in the current transfer window.

Club vice chairman Nyandoro Kambi and interim head coach Joseph Ongoro eliminated any big changes in the team. Kambi stated they are just seeking to sign a skilled goalkeeper and defender.

Kambi ruled out the return of two previous gamers who left the club acrimoniously in 2015. “There is harmony and team effort in the group currently. We do not wish to interrupt that,” said Kambi.

Ongoro said he is fine with the present team which makes up players aged between 18 and 23. “My policy is to establish and coach young players. I will work with the club management to come up with a youth development policy,” said the coach.

He included: “It will be unreasonable for me to drop any player in the current window. These young boys have actually worked difficult and they all should have to be in the team. My priority is to get a goalkeeper because that’s where I feel there is some weakness,” stated Ongoro.

Shabana’s first-choice goalkeeper Dennis Ayusa is most likely to leave in the existing transfer window after losing his starting location to Felix Otieno. Ayusa is being courted by previous Kenya Premier League champs Sony, where about 10 previous players are plying their trade.

Ongoro has actually directed the team to fourth put on the log, with 14 points, 4 behind log leaders Kenya Police. Second-placed Fortune Sacco is on 17 points while Ken Kenyatta’s FC Talanta is 3rd with 16 points.

Ongoro stays unbeaten because he took over from Vincent Nyaberi. The team has won 4 matches and drawn one against Modern Coast in Mombasa.

Ongoro is keen to preserve the great run when the team play 10th placed Silibwet Leones at Bomet Stadium on Sunday.
