Japanese esports content provider PlayBrain announced that it has closed a $6M USD Series A financing round, bringing the company’s total funds raised to $8M. Existing financier BITKRAFT Esports Ventures got involved in the financing round.

PlayBrain exposed that it plans to use the investment’s earnings to grow its footprint, broaden into additional esports and home entertainment properties, and enhance its commitment to leading the creative direction, operation, and commercialization of League of Legends Japan League.

Aside from Riot Games, the business works with several video game publishers and brand names, consisting of Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Twitch, Supercell, Alienware, and Intel.

In combination with its Series An investment, PlayBrain selected manga membership service Mangamo CEO and Founder Friend Marini to its advisory board. Marini formerly dealt with mobile esports items as managing director of Supercell Japan and merged esports and mainstream entertainment as CEO at Hulu Japan.
