The city of Toronto is inviting Esports with a proposed home entertainment facility/arena. Backed by OverActive Media– the exact same gaming company that The Weeknd co-owns– the complex will accommodate 7,000-seats, will cost approximately $500 million USD and is anticipated to be total by 2025.

This will be the city’s most recent sports/entertainment venue given that BMO Field in 2007. When complete, OverActive is wanting to have the venue packed out all-year-round with Esporting events including its teams Toronto Defiant, Toronto Ultra, and MAD Lions– combining fans of competitive games like League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, and Call of Task.

Chris Overholt of OverActive Media comments: “We are building a world-leading, 21st-century sports media and home entertainment company and this best-in-class performance venue will be the chosen house for a brand-new generation of fans that believe in a different way about their home entertainment choices and experiences.”

Those driving down Lake Coast near the Exhibition grounds are going to witness this futuristic structure in person come 2025.
