NCAA cancels Division III winter season champions
The sports affected are: guys’s and females’s basketball, males’s and ladies’s ice hockey, men’s and ladies’s swimming, males’s and women’s indoor track and field and wrestling.
The suggestion made by the NCAA Department III Championships Committee was based upon schools and programs being not able to meet the minimum requirements for either games or fulfills to be qualified for the Division III championship satisfies by the recognized selection dates.
Eastern Connecticut State is the only state Department III school that has begun competitors. The males’s basketball group lost at Rhode Island College Saturday and is playing a shortened Little East schedule. The men’s and females’s swimming groups have a number of satisfies arranged.
Albertus Magnus revealed its return to competition on Jan. 26. The Falcons’ teams have begun to practice.
Both Albertus and St. Joseph are playing decreased schedules in males’s basketball. The Terrific Northeast Athletic Conference canceled its season in November.
Western Connecticut, Wesleyan and Trinity are not holding intercollegiate competition this winter season.
