Extreme preparations are underway at the MRICS, Hambantota to host the inaugural Lanka Premier League 2020 (LPL), which will commence on the 26 November 2020, when Colombo Kings handles Kandy Tuskers, in the first game of the competition.

The ground staff is currently taken part in preparing the place, which will hold a record 23 matches in 15 days, including the finals of the much-awaited LPL.

In total, the MRICS, Hambantota will have 10 center wickets prepared for the competition, whilst all 10 wickets will be used during the competition.

“We are working complete scale to make sure that we deliver excellent quality playing wickets for the tournament and I am confident that we can achieve this gigantic job effectively,” stated, Mr. Godfrey Dabrera, Supervisor, International Venues and Facilities of the SLC.

The venue will have 25 practice (side) wickets ready for practice purposes and all those wickets will have floodlight centers integrated, hence providing under light practice centers for the groups.

Apart from preparing the existing gamer dressing rooms to be in line with planned health guidelines, another two brand-new dressing rooms will also be built to ensure that all teams are provided a different ‘Dressing Space’, throughout the days, where Double Headers will be conducted.
