Manchester City players Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte have tested favorable for coronavirus just five days before the start of the new Premier League season, the club announced on Monday.

City said in a declaration that French protector Laporte and Algerian global forward Mahrez were self-isolating in accordance with Premier League and government guidelines.

” Neither is displaying signs of the infection,” the statement said.

” Everyone at the club wishes Riyad and Aymeric a speedy recovery ahead of their go back to training and the brand-new season.”

The Premier League season begins on Saturday however Manchester City do not open their project till September 21, when they play Wolves.

City and neighbours Manchester United are missing out on the opening weekend to provide extra time to recover from a late end to the 2019/20 season because both were associated with European competitors.

Mahrez tweeted: “Thank you for all the great messages, I’m good. Stay safe everyone look after you.”

Laporte thanked fans for their messages of assistance, saying he would be back quickly.
