Pretoria – The KwaZulu-Natal under-17 group won the 2010 South African Football Association (SAFA) championship title after beating the Northern Cape 4-1 on penalties at Eldorado Park stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday.

SAFA spokesperson Morio Sanyane said the last was an exciting affair, with both groups having a go at each other, and numerous scoring opportunities not converted.

Neither of the two teams managed to discover the back of the net and the match had to be chosen charges.

The Northern Cape handled to score only one, thanks to Angelo van Rooi, while Charles Molelekane and Elroy Baardman missed their spot kicks.

KwaZulu-Natal won the title when Brendon Parusnath, Lizwi Dludla, Sizwe Mngadi and Dumisani Hadebe transformed their spot kicks.

Previously in the day, safeguarding champs SASFA won bronze medals when they beat Western Cape 4-1.
