Jeff Wilpon: ‘Four or 5 suitors’ thinking about purchasing Mets
Mets COO Jeff Wilpon stated Thursday there are 4 or five parties interested in buying the group.
” The group will have some sort of deal, I can’t inform you exactly what it’s going to be and how it’s going to look,” Wilpon told the UJA-Federation of New York City, a Jewish philanthropic company, according to Bleacher Report. “But we’re working towards a deal and there’s four or five suitors that are out there to do something with and [there’s] a bunch of humanitarian preparation and family preparation that my father and my uncle desire to do, which’s completely fine.”
Wilpon didn’t reveal any additional details on any potential sale.
” When we have something to truly announce and inform you about, we’ll do that,” he stated. “Not going to play the speculation video game or get in any competitors with Page Six or Variety publication.”
On Monday, it was reported private equity billionaires Josh Harris and David Blitzer are making a serious run at the Mets. If that turns out to be effective, they would add the baseball group to their sports portfolio that already consists of the 76ers and the Devils.
Harris is thought to be worth $5.1 billion, while Blitzer’s wealth is in the community of $1.3 billion, but that reportedly has actually not frightened off Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, who still wish to be the queen and king of Queens.
Sources near the power couple informed The Post that J-Rod have understood the duo’s interest, however remain positive in assembling a competitive bid of their own.
