JOINT supervisor Marcus Bignot insists Guiseley should get excited at the prospect of drawing a Football League club in the very first round of the Emirates FA Cup, despite not reaching that stage in the competitors yet.
The Lions are the favourites as they travel to Step Three side FC United of Manchester in the final preliminary on Saturday.
The Vanarama National League North side also have a terrific recent history in the competition and are aiming to qualifying for the 3rd time in 4 years.
Usually gaffers refuse to look beyond the next video game, but not Bignot, he is permitting his gamers to dream of prospective tv direct exposure and starring at a few of the bigger premises in the nation.
He stated: “It will be two years out of 3 (considering that Bignot and Russ O’Neill showed up) if we get in the very first round which is good going.
” In year one (2018/19), we drew Cambridge in among the highlighted games. We got money from the TELEVISION and it was probably one of the very best games in the round.
” You have actually got to look beyond since it is a fairy tale cup. The league is one video game at a time however the FA Cup we have to dream about that very first round.
” We will be both thinking if we can get through this then we can pull a huge Football League club out of the hat.
” It is a chance for a player to go far for himself. Why not believe a bit ahead? It is a motivation.
” You begin now getting a name on your own as a FA Cup team who gets to those big rounds. We are desperate to make it through.”
There is the extra factor of this being the first video game of the season which Guiseley will play in front of spectators.
Unfortunately, for them, Broadhurst Park will only be able to help with 600 home advocates due to Football Association judgment.
Bignot included: “It will be the first time that we have actually played in front of a crowd. While we are in this environment, we have to adapt and learn. I am interesting to see how we are going to tackle that.
” The active ingredients make for a genuine amusing football game. They are a great footballing group.
” I have fond memories of them when we won the league with Solihull Moors. We did a lap of honour and their fans really urged us to do it so I have a soft area for them.”
In the league, Guiseley just recently lost out to Hereford. Bignot claims his side were simply missing that killer instinct in front of goal.
He stated: “It was a really good away day efficiency for them.
” They got the rub of the green on a charge choice which might have gone in either case.
” They have got a lot of senior players who managed the game well in regards to the scoreline and the time. The little dark arts of the video game they succeeded too.
” We didn’t create adequate opportunities to win the game however definitely did enough not to lose it.
” That was the overriding feeling from players, personnel and fans who saw it on YouTube.
” We missed out on that final touch. We were nearly there however it wasn’t to be.”
