The Franklin High School football group suffered a heart-breaking loss Thursday, falling to Canadian, 35-34 in the 3A Div. II State Champion at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The Lions grabbed the lead with 1:02 staying in the fourth quarter, when Seth Spiller found Braden Smith for a 37-yard TD on a halfback pass.

However, the additional point try was no good, and Canadian then reversed to score on the ensuing drive, as Josh Culwell talked to Reagan Cochran for a 52-yard goal pass with 28 seconds left.

The Warriors’ extra point shot was real and their defense then squashed a desperate effort by the Lions, sacking signal-caller Marcus Wade for the final play of the game.
