Fans defy odds to see league match in Lagos – New Telegraph
It has actually been difficult for the Nigeria Specialist Football League faithful since the beginning of the 2020/ 2021 league season. Last weekend, Lagos-based MFM FC hosted Rangers of Enugu at the Agege Municipality Stadium, however with the direction for all games to be played behind closed doors, due to the outbreak of the Unique Covid-19 Pandemic, the fans were not able to enter the stadium to watch their darling team. Nevertheless, they chose to defy the chances by climbing a container right behind the fence of the stadium to view the video game which ended 1-1.
The efforts by the fans is good although very risky as they showed their love for the video game and the league in the country. Because the lockdown and suspension of the league early last year, the fans throughout the country have not taken pleasure in live football apart from enjoying on the tv and as one of them said, they can’t wait on normalcy to return.
” That was how we saw the game against Warri Wolves and we are going to do the like the season progresses up until we are permitted back to the stadium,” one of the fans who provided his name as Afeez said. “We just pray that things go back to regular so that we can all return to watch our beloved group. “I usually travel to some away games extremely close to Lagos like Akure, but i can’t do that again because of the restriction on fans.”
