Following the success of esports in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, a brand-new tournament pitting the area’s best will quickly go online.

Razer is tailoring up with the 2020 SEA Invitational, a first of its kind tournament to prepare the region’s professional athletes and federations for esports’ addition in the SEA Games next year in Vietnam.

” The SEA Invitational is planned to be kept in between SEA Games as a platform where all participating esports federations can continue to take advantage of and supply their nationwide groups with the opportunity to compete and acquire more experience regionally,” Razer’s Esports Director David Tse said in an unique interview.

” SEA Invitational this year will provide another round of competition and finding out opportunities for the nations to protect their titles, or claim for their countries,” he added.

For the very first time ever in 2015, esports ended up being a main medal sport in the SEA Games, with the Philippine national team, Sibol, taking three out of the six gold medals.

The games played in Manila were DOTA2, Starcraft II, Hearthstone, Tekken 7, Arena of Valor, and Mobile Legends.

For the SEA Invitational, Razer is just reviving DOTA2 and Mobile Legends from the SEA Games, while PUBG will be included to the lineup.

” We are reviving Dota2 and MLBB from 30th SEA Games to Razer SEA Invitational 2020 to provide another regional competition experience for the national teams. We think that there has been much development and increased training momentum because the conclusion of the very first medal esports occasion in 2015 at the SEA Games,” Tse stated.

” We chose to add in PUBGM due to its popularity in the area, which will assist expand the viewership of our esports community and get them all thrilled to cheer for their national groups competing,” he included.

The 2020 Razer SEA Invitational will start it’s online tournament June 22, with the grand finals set for July 3-5.
