MANILA, Philippines– After a month of extreme competition, Zedrik “Jeff” Dizon of the Ateneo de Manila University was named the champion of this year’s Red Bull R1v1 Runes competition.

Regional qualifiers were held throughout Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, collecting DOTA 2 gamers in the nation to contend in 1v1 matches.

Dizon made his tournament launching in the Luzon qualifier, and initially discovered little success early on with a battle-focused method to gameplay. He changed strategies, studying his challengers’ usage of the push strategy.

Dizon then created alternatives utilizing the Meteor Hammer, an approach that led him to the nationwide finals against DSLU.Quanon.

When the dust settled, Dizon was crowned the 2020 R1v1r Runes Champion with a rating of 4-0, and a set win of 100%.

As the recently crowned champ, Dizon is now scheduled to deal with Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, group captain of two-time The International 2019 Champions, Group OG, at Red Bull R1v1r Runes Civil War on Monday, July 20, at KuyaNic’s Facebook Page at 6 p.m.

N0tail is one of the most recognizable figures in esports. After establishing himself in the worldwide DOTA 2 scene, Sundstein co-founded OG and would lead the group to 4 major DOTA champions and back-to-back The International Championships.

Civil War features an under card with 4 matches consisting of local and international DOTA 2 players.
