Esports tournament and video gaming occasions organizer DreamHack revealed Thursday that DreamHack Leipzig 2021 will not be an in-person occasion due to continuous issues about the COVID-19 pandemic and associated travel and security constraints.

Instead, the business announced DreamHack Leipzig – Home Edition, which motivates the neighborhood to “come together in little groups at house, in video gaming bars, or other places” from Jan. 22-24, 2021, with competitors being played online.

Neighborhood members can take part in the event by visiting participating places such as LVL-Berlin, the 1337 Camp, and TaKe’s Video gaming Bar.

A full accounting of sponsors, partners, and competitors were not disclosed at the time of writing, though DreamHack Leipzig has in the previous hosted Majors for Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and other competitions.

DreamHack says that the 2022 edition of the event will return to the Leipzig Trade Fair grounds in Leipzig, Germany, Jan. 28 – 30, 2022.
