DDCA will ask for Bishan Singh Bedi to withdraw his Kotla demand: Rohan Jaitley
Bishan Singh Bedi had actually criticised the corruption-ridden DDCA for picking to install the statue of Arun Jaitley at the stadium and required that his name be gotten rid of from among the Kotla stands.
Explaining Bishan Singh Bedi as the ‘Bisham Pitamah’ of Delhi cricket, DDCA President Rohan Jaitley on Monday stated the association will ask for the former India spinner to withdraw his need of removing his name from a stand at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground.
Bedi had criticised the debate and corruption-ridden Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) for picking to set up the statue of an administrator at the stadium rather of an inspirational cricketer and required that his name be gotten rid of from one of the Kotla stands.
Rohan, who recently took over as DDCA President, said he would have chosen Bedi to go over the concern with him personally and not made “below the belt” remarks against his father, who died last year due to numerous health problems.
DDCA went ahead and unveiled the statue on Monday.
” Bedi ji is the ‘Bhisham Pitamah’ of Delhi cricket. If there are bookings, there are much better methods of going over. I am a child and I expect to be assisted by the elders in the fraternity. His name on the stands is his tradition, an honour bestowed upon him,” Rohan said after the unveiling ceremony.
” These matters need to chosen by the Peak Council. It’s not in my domain. It’s not in my power to remove anyone’s name. We have discussed it within the DDCA. We are going to request him to reassess it. It’s a long association between the DDCA and Mr Bedi.”
Asked if it truly matters to DDCA if Bedi’s name remains on the stands of the Kotla ground, Rohan stated “it does”.
” It matters, I want his name to be there. I resect him as much as my daddy, if he wishes to scold me, he can pull my ear however you can’t hit listed below the belt when it is not required.
” Raising (casting) aspersion on somebody who is not amongst us is unfair. If there are bookings, I would have addressed instead of hearing from the media. I am available, offered to everybody on board.”
Rohan stated the decisions of relabeling the stadium as Aun Jaitley Stadium and setup of his father’s statue were taken prior to he became the DDCA president.
” There are methods to attend to the grievances. If you begin attacking somebody, who has actually just stepped into the office … I am trying my best to get DDCA’s splendor back. I can’t do it overnight, it will take a while,” he stated.
Sharing his vision for DDCA, Rohan stated players will be at the centre of all development.
” World class infrastructure for gamers and members, a world class fitness center will be there in the next few months. We are upgrading cricketing facilities, the new lights are being prepared. We are currently communicating with the DDA on establishing of academies. 2 premises have actually been recognized currently.
” We are trying to generate a more transparent system. Advancement strategies will begin. The old clubhouse has concerns, we are already interacting with IIT Delhi to rectify.”
