Breaking: CNN crew released from custody in Minneapolis
CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez and his crew have been released from authorities custody.
Jimenez, along with manufacturer Costs Kirkos and photojournalist Leonel Mendez, were detained shortly after 6 a.m. ET live on CNN air, while reporting on the demonstrations in Minneapolis.
The group was released from the Hennepin County Public Security facility in downtown Minneapolis just a few minutes ago.
Minnesota guv says sorry for arrest of CNN team
CNN president Jeff Zucker talked to the guv of Minnesota, Tim Walz on Friday morning, following the arrest of CNN’s group in Minneapolis,
Walz said he “deeply apologizes” for what happened and is working to have the CNN team launched right away.
Walz described the arrests as “inappropriate,” said CNN’s group clearly can exist, and stated he wants the media to be in Minnesota to cover the protests.
