Alex Neil’s view on Brentford’s transfers, spending plan & recruitment
Preston North End take on the kind side in the department tonight when they take on Brentford at Griffin Park.
Thomas Frank’s side have won all 6 of their matches considering that the reboot, conceding just two objectives.
Their front three of Said Benrahma, Ollie Watkins and Bryan Mbeumo has been the driving force behind their success this season, as well as the additions of Pontus Jansson and Ethan Pinnock at the back.
The Bees’ recruitment is something that’s received a great deal of appreciation and while Frank hasn’t exactly done things on the cheap, Neil appreciates the method they tackle things in the transfer market.
” I think it’s something that hasn’t been focused on and it’s a bit like when Bournemouth went up and spent a hell of a lot to go out the league,” included Neil. “Brentford have some cash, you look at the players they’ve brought in and they have actually invested huge cash.
” This isn’t a group that’s been flung together for a couple hundred grand occasionally, these lads are quality players.
” They do a lot on stats and I believe their owner has a stat-based business so they utilise that and they’ve also got an under-23/ B team who walk around different nations playing video games.
” It wouldn’t amaze me if that helps them in their searching network in terms of playing these teams and selecting up gamers from countries that get ignored to a particular degree, like Norway – I believe they have a team over there too.
” They’ve got a wide-net clearly in regards to recruitment and as you see they have some really quality gamers.
” They’re well backed, they know what they’re doing, they’re happy to generate foreign players and their design has actually worked very effectively recently.”
