OK, everyone can unwind now. Cre’Von LeBlanc is back.

The Eagles re-signed the 26-year-old cornerback on Monday early morning, 17 hours and 35 minutes after they launched him and sent Eagles fans into a tailspin. LeBlanc hasn’t been with the Eagles long, however he’s plainly a fan favorite.

Sure there was some threat of another group swooping in, but this was clearly the Eagles plan the whole time. It was mainly procedural.

After claiming Lions running back Jason Huntley off waivers on Sunday, the Eagles required to discover a lineup spot for him. And although they intended on putting Will Parks and Quez Watkins on IR, they had to find the spot before they did that.

So instead of cutting a gamer who would be subject to waivers, they released LeBlanc, who became a totally free agent instantly as a vested veteran. That allowed them to re-sign him this morning without needing to wait and hope he clears waivers.

With LeBlanc back on the team, the Eagles have 5 cornerbacks again, which is still a little light. They likewise have veteran Trevor Williams on the practice team.

LeBlanc joined the Eagles during the 2018 season, when they declared him off waivers from the Lions. Last year, LeBlanc was limited with a foot injury and played in just 4 video games. He has played in 12 video games and began 5 for the Eagles because his arrival. He does not have any interceptions in the routine season with the Eagles however LeBlanc did select off a pass in that championship game versus the Saints in 2018.

Entering into this year, LeBlanc is a backup nickel corner behind complimentary agent pickup Nickell Robey-Coleman.

The Eagles now have one area open on the 53-man roster. They can maybe utilize that spot on veteran offensive tackle Cordy Glenn if that tryout works out. Or they might raise somebody from the practice squad.

There’s also a new rule this season that enables teams to activate two members of their practice squad to produce a 55-man roster heading into video game day. It offers those gamers safe passage to and from the practice squad.
