CAIRO, Nov. 20 (Xinhua)– The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) and the Qatar Football Association (QFA) have concurred that Qatar will not host the 2020 CAF Super Cup which was at first to be held from August 14 to 16, 2020.

” Based upon the joint coordination between CAF and the QFA concerning the agenda of sporting events, it was chosen that Qatar will not host the 2020 Overall CAF Super Cup which was initially slotted to be held in between 14-16, August 2020,” CAF stated in a statement.

This year’s edition will be held in Cairo, Egypt, the statement exposed. However, it was not chosen when the match will be played.

The CAF Super Cup generally pits the winner of the CAF Champions League against that of the CAF Confederation Cup in a one-off clash.

” Based on the African and Qatari sports calendars, the conditions will be ideal for another extraordinary edition of this competition to be staged in Qatar,” CAF quoted QAF president Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmad Al-Thani as stating.

According to CAF’s statement, CAF President, Ahmad Ahmad, revealed appreciation to the QFA as well as to the authorities of the country for their unfailing dedication together with CAF and the preparatory work already performed.

CAF and the QFA will continue to hold joint coordination meetings during the coming duration to determine as quickly as possible any sign of the event’s return to Doha based on the competitors calendar agreed between the 2 sides, the statement stated. Enditem
